  • Snorkeling at Fly Point Park- On the headland between Nelson Bay and Little Beach is Fly Point Park. It’s a great place to enjoy a picnic lunch, then hit the water for some snorkeling exploring. There is loads of marine life to see, sponge gardens, sea caves and shipwrecks.

  • The Worimi Conservation Lands (Stockton Bight Sand Dunes)- offers hours of fun with a range of activities to suit everyone. Go exploring in your 4WD, or take to the sand on foot. You can also ride a horse, camel or quad bike. For the ultimate experience, you must try sandboarding down thirty metre high dunes!
  • Broughton Island- Take a day trip to Broughton Island or go to Cabbage Island to visit the sea colony. Broughton Island is part of the Myall National Park and is located approximately eight nautical miles North East of Port Stephens.
  • Take a walk to Fingal Spit- Walk across  “the spit” the small divide on sand between the two land masses of this incredible beach and view the ruins of the outer lighthouse residence. Enjoy exploring Fingal Head and its breath-taking views. Just make sure you factor in when heading back as low tide is the best time to walk the spit and offers the safest crossing conditions.
  • Port Stephens has some wonderful Dolphin watching cruises on offer which run all year. From May to November, you can also go on a whale watching cruise. What better way to spend a day than out at sea admiring these beautiful creatures?
  • After something that will get the adrenaline pumping? Why not take in the beautiful views from the air? Parasailing up to 150 metres above the water over Port Stephens offers some magnificent views. Of course, this is offered as a Tandem ride and no experience is necessary. You can simply enjoy the sights…and the adrenaline rush!
  • Blue Water Country Music Festival- For lovers of country music, the Blue Water festival is one to mark on the calendar. From the June long weekend,(10-13th June) Port Stephens and Nelson Bay are transformed into a country music lovers dream with free live music, bush poets, bootscooting and so much more.
