Healthy Drinks, Food and Habits for Keeping You and Your Hotel Room Healthy

The luxury of staying in a hotel room can often mean we slip into thinking it is time to indulge. Sweet snacks and other unhealthy items are common in a room. Preparing the right items, such as green coffee (green coffee 800 is my personal choice), and other especially healthy snacks, such as dried plums, which are loaded with anti-oxidants will go a long way to a healthy night’s sleep. Here is a look at those and other options to making your hotel room that much healthier. Get in the right habits today.

If you travel a lot, you need to take care of your health more than most of us. There is no better place to start than your hotel room. Choose the right beverages, such as new wonder products like green coffee, saying no to alcohol and sweets is only the start. Simple changes can have a big impact on our life, and so here is a quick guide to making any hotel room healthier.

  • Saying No to Alcohol. By choosing not to drink, you will save on your calorie consumption and save greatly on your wallet. That money can be set aside for eating and drinking the right foods – perhaps even a gym membership.
  • Disinfect. Did you know bedspreads are the most notorious item in your room? Sheets are changed daily. The bedspread is often not. The best thing you can do with it is roll it up and stuff it in a corner. Use antibacterial hand wash to wipe over the tv remote, the phone and any door handles. Most bugs get into our body from contact with our hands. The room might look tidy, but tidiness is not cleanliness. By cleaning those common items you are protecting yourself from the vast majority of germs. Thongs for the shower are a must.
  • Bring Your Own. It makes more than economic sense to be bringing your own snacks and drinks. Either buy them at a convenience store nearby or bring them along with you for the trip. There are a number of items you can bring with you to replace those sweet and fatty snacks. Choosing healthy bites, such as dried plums and other healthy fruits that can stay edible for your whole trip can really curb your appetite, and be good for you. Healthy coffee and cocoa drink sachets do not take up much room in your luggage. At least check with room service, some of the best hotels will have healthy food options.  Healthy drinks and food will also mean you can sleep better. A small sweet snack or the wrong drink could actually be what is keeping you up all night.
  • Be White Noisy. White noise is a constant sound that will actually drown out other noises. You could do this with the tv. A low volume tv (just make sure you turn the brightness down) can actually create a subtle enough noise to block out any other disturbances. Ear plugs for complete quiet is always another solution.

In most cases, keeping yourself healthy in your room will boil down to what you eat, drink and what you disinfect. Essentially this is covering everything that could go in your mouth. It is what gets inside our bodies that benefits or harms us. These small changes can have a huge impact on your night and therefore, your performance the next day. You are staying in a hotel because you have no other choice. Just because there is service available, doesn’t mean you have no other option. Take the steps to maintain your healthy lifestyle beyond what is on offer. A short trip outside to a market, or buying what you need online before you go, will mean you have put yourself in good stead.
