After France Hervé Novelli, Minister of Tourism, during the tourist numbers fell by 6 percent last year from 2008, France remains the number one tourism destination in the world to welcome more than 74 million foreign visitors annually.

Commenting on the results, said Jean-Philippe Perol, director for North and South America by ATOUT France (France Tourism Development Agency) were the number of American visitors even better than expected given the difficult economic and financial situation in the past year in the U.S.

“If this continues and the exchange pays about $ 1.20 to one euro, we expect that the results will be for the American travel to France this year are up 4-5 percent,” added Perol.
